a.LWAYS r.EFER TO THE k.ING

My husband pointed out the above bumper sticker on the back of a truck on our way home from church today.  It immediately brought me back to why I love the story of Noah and the building of the ark so much.  When everyone else thought Noah was out of his mind, he listened to God, trusted Him, and walked by faith and not by sight.  Because of Noah's obedience to God, he "found favor in the eyes of the Lord" (Genesis 6:8).  "By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith" (Hebrews11:7).

The more time you spend with God, the easier it is to hear the Holy Spirit's promptings.  Spend time cultivating your relationship with God just like you would your friends.  The result will be that "the Spirit of truth will guide you into all truth" (John 16:13).  "God is not a God of disorder but of peace" (1 Corinthians 14:33).  If you are feeling restless, you need to check your motives.  "Test everything.  Hold on to the good.  Avoid every kind of evil" (1 Thessalonians 5:21-22).  If God is a God of peace as 1 Corinthians 14:33 says, then Satan is the author of disorder.  Keep this in mind when faced with small, medium, and large decisions.  "Do NOT be anxious about anything, but in EVERYTHING, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. " (Philippians 4:6-7).**
